Description:
The New York Asian Women's Center works with women and children whose lives are affected by domestic violence, to enable them to live safe and independent lives. As the first domestic violence organization to serve Asian communities in New York City, and one of the first in the nation, the Center recognizes that ending violence is a systematic issue and cannot be solved on an isolated, individual level. By helping women and children end violence at home, and at the same time, bringing domestic violence to the forefront of the Asian community's consciousness, the New York Asian Women's Center serves as a vehicle for placing the concerns of Asian women and children on the agenda for community change.
