AArisings celebrates the start of its 12th year. 12 years?! Yes, originally AArisings was started in January 1990 as Shock wAAve Records, a record label dedicated to releasing Asian American music artists. In 1993, we changed the name to AArising Records to coincide with the successful AArising talent showcases we also started during that same year.

The AArising talent showcases have been the starting grounds for AArising Stars like One Vision, Pinay, James Wong, Art Hirahara, Byron Yee, 18 Mighty Mountain Warriors, In-Cite and more. The last showcase was August 1996.

In 1997, AArising Records completely removed itself from the recording industry and passed the torched to many other indie record labels who have been furthering the cause of Asian American performers around the country. Now, AArisings is strictly a web-based entertainment resource about Asian Pacific Americans.
