Description:
The Japan America Society of Maine was founded in 1982. It is an association of Maine residents actively engaged in bringing the peoples of Japan and the United States closer together in understanding, appreciation and cooperation. It is a private, non-profit, non-partisan organization, devoted to cultural, educational, business and public affairs programs and to discussions, exchanges and studies of vital interest in both countries. The Society is an active participant in ongoing interactions through which citizens of two of the world's leading democracies learn from each other's experiences and accomplishments.

The Japan America Society of Maine is an all-volunteer organization that depends on its membership for organizing and supporting its cultural and educational activities. It offers a diverse selection of services and programs for its individual and family members.
